Heidi ho, readers! Welcome to May’s edition of the adventures of a Nerd book club! If you are new, let me explain how this works. Each month I recommend a book (usually a classic), a film adaption or related film, a Spotify playlist and now and then I have a bonus activity.
This month’s book is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

Little Women is a coming of age novel that takes place during the Civil War. It follows the lives of the four March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—and details their passage from childhood to womanhood. The story tells of how the sisters grow up, find love and their place in the world.
Little women was published in 1868. It was written and inspired by the life of Louisa May Alcott.
Our Movie
Our movie to watch this month is one I haven’t seen! The 2019 version of little women directed by Greta Gerwig, and staring Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Laura Dern, and Timothee Chalamet.
I haven’t been too interested in this movie. I’ll admit, the strong feminist aspect put me off at first, but I figured I should give it a try.
If you have already seen this movie and the 1994 version and just want something new, I would recommend pbs’ little women mini-series from 2017.

Out Playlist
And as you enjoy this month’s book, don’t forget to listen to the playlist! Featuring the score form both the 2019 and the 1994 films, and songs from other artists.
And as always, more music will be added throughout the month so be sure to like this playlist on Spotify!

I would love to know if you plan to read along with me this month! April’s book club wrap-up will be coming soon!
Thanks a bunch!
